  5. IMPORTANT NOTE: This version fixes all printing problems and postscript errors
  6. associated with imagesetter output. This version also adds quotes and
  7. apostrophes, which were missing in previous versions.

  9. This is the final version of PREMIUM THIN. Those who have registered their copy
  10. of the previous Type 3 or Type 1 versions are automatically registered for this
  11. version. PREMIUM THIN is a beautiful Type 1 (ATM-compatible) display typeface
  12. based on Letraset's Premier Lightline. This font has uppercase and lowercase
  13. characters, numerals, and punctuation. PREMIUM THIN was created entirely with
  14. Letraset╒s FontStudio 2.0 (release version). PREMIUM THIN includes a 24 and
  15. 48-point screenfont, the AFM file, and this READ ME--PREMIUM THIN document.
  16. This font is fully hinted and and there are over 600 kerning pairs defined.

  18. ALTERNATE CHARACTERS------------------------------
  19. There are alternate characters for A, K, R, S, W, e, s, and w. Uppercase
  20. alternates can be accessed by pressing Option-Shift-Character and the lowercase
  21. alternates can be accessed by pressing Option-Character. For example, to get
  22. the alternate uppercase A, you would press Option-Shift-A.
  23.  
  24. DESIGNSTUDIO AND READY,SET,GO! USERS:
  25. DesignStudio and Ready,Set,Go! may not always display and print special
  26. alternate characters in a FontStudio font. Both page-layout applications
  27. default to the standard Symbol characters if the upper register of ASCII
  28. characters is mapped differently from the standard font map.

  30. The solution (using Apple's ResEdit utility) is as follows:
  31. 1. Launch ResEdit and open a copy of the DesignStudio (or RSG) application
  32.    (Never work on the original!).
  33. 2. Locate the STR# resource and open it.
  34. 3. Open STR# 556.
  35. 4. Click on the last row of asterisks in the lower left of the window. A
  36.    rectangle will appear around the asterisks.
  37. 5. Select NEW (or Insert New Field(s) if you are using ResEdit 2.0 or later)
  38.    from the File menu and then click the pointer in the new font name entry
  39.    area that appears and type the unique font name the unique font name in this
  40.    area. You must enter the unique font name exactly. Character for character,
  41.    spelling, correct upper and lowercase usage, and spacing between words is
  42.    crucial.
  43. 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 (always clicking on the current last row of asterisks)
  44.    for each font for which you need the special (option or option-shift)
  45.    characters properly displayed and printed.
  46. 7. When you are done adding all the font names to the program, choose Quit from
  47.    the File menu and then click Yes to save the changes.
  48. DesignStudio (or RSG) should now properly display and print the special
  49. characters for each font whose name you've added to the program using this
  50. procedure.
